Hi, I have a simple (or perhaps very complex) question about Final Fantasy 6. In a hack I'm working on I've made it so that only certain characters can use magic. However, this has had the undesired effect of making those characters unable to equip espers. Is there a way around this? I'm only a novice rom hacker, so I really have no idea how to get around this. I've just been using FF6usME and a few other utils (including a little hex editing) to make this hack. Any help is much appreciated.

Oh man, thank you! Now my hack will be perfect! Well, at least for my purposes.

EDIT: One more small question. Can I apply this patch over my hacked rom, or do I need to get a fresh rom, apply this patch, and then apply the hacked rom patch? The reason I ask is because my ROM is expanded to 32mbits for enemy battle script changes.

Nevermind, I got the ROM patched successfully and it seems to work ok. Now I have another question, this is something I've been trying to figure out for awhile. Does anyone know what Shock's damage is based on? Is it elemental? Is it based on physical defense, or magic defense? Or is it based on something else entirely? I can't seem to figure it out.

It's magic damage.

Really? It seems that raising an enemies magic defense has little to no effect... maybe it would work better if I just decreased the Shock characters magic power?

I believe it's Megahit in the FF3usME editor, so check it's properties there. It probably pierces armor.

Raising their level would help more, BUT that would make them more powerful overall due to the way the formulas in this game work. Level > stat numbers.
