Would it be possible to port this awesome flash game to the NES? That is, to hack SMB to play like it? Do a google search for Super Mario Crossover if you haven't heard of it. It's pretty sweet. You can play as Samus, Simon Belmont, Ryu Hayabusa, Link, Mega Man, the Contra guy, etc. The thing is, they play just like they do in their own games, meaning Mega Man can shoot, Simon has a whip, Ryu can climb walls, etc. I would love to play this on a TV!

Plug your computer to your TV, and voilà!

Or try it on Wii, or PS3.

In other words, it would be very difficult or next to impossible to port it over to the NES, specially if you're thinking about hacking SMB.

This is probably the best idea.  Especially the Wii if you have retroport gamepads.

Unless you want to re-code everything in 6502 ASM, it's absolutely impossible, unfortunately.
There is much more characters available than in the original Mario, so starting as a mario hack (with another mapper exanding the ROM) would be technically possible, but in the end I guess it would need to re-code almost everything to support hit collition etc... with all the characters available.

How can I do either on of those things? I don't have a PC or TV that supports connecting one to the other. Wait, can I play online flash games with the Wii? Didn't know that was possible?

Might be able to, anyway. It depends on the Flash Player version and the controls required. Mouse-based games? Fine. And I'm pretty sure the browser maps the D-pad to the arrow keys. Not sure about the rest, unfortunately.

Anyways, most PCs have either an S-video output or an HDMI port. If you've got an HDMI port but no HDTV, I can't really help you with that. However, if you've got an older computer with an S-video output but no compatible TV, there is an adapter available that lets you convert a S-video plug into a standard composite video plug (the little yellow RCA jack). So you could try that.
