Hello all, haven't been on the site for a while....I'm trying to rip the animations from any Street fighter ex game any from the ps1 series to the ps2 game. I primarily needed the 3d animations, movements from some of the characters....I heard this is possible from the rom or other sources and if so I would want to pay an individual to do this for me. Could someone assist me please? Thanks.

Why would you pay someone, especially to do it for you. If you ask, most people will show you how to do it yourself for free.

Thanks for the reply. That would be great if someone could show me, though the problem is that my spare time is limited due to I'm in the military (I work a lot) and I have three kids....I thought if I found someone who was experienced with such thing I could pay for their services and save me a lot of grief. But I am off this weekend. Any users who could assist?

Ask on Street Fighter fan sites. You will be guaranteed a response. Wink

To make a long story short, though, I kind of doubt anyone would do this. 3D model ripping from a console (particularly from the PSX, which doesn’t have a standard 3D model format, much less a standard animation format) involves a lot of trouble, and you’d have to really figure out a lot of details, like how the animations were done, how textures were mapped, how the hitboxes are determined, and so forth. By the time it was all RE’d and placed into more “normal” model formats, everyone would just have a big headache and not a lot to show for it. It’s theoretically possible, but I don’t think you could even pay anyone who was capable of doing this. You’d pretty much have to find someone who’s already obsessed with doing it themselves (if memory serves, this is how the Sonic models were finally ripped from SA1-SH, but now I’m getting kind of fuzzy on my forum habits of auld...).

You might get better results commissioning a 3D artist or something, of course, but then you’re just looking at something different entirely Undecided\

I think the more money you have to throw on this, the better the result will be. How much are you willing to spend? Wink

I ask questions like this too often, and I have come to realize that I should stop.  But dag nabbit, I just have to say it:  Why does a guy in the military who works a lot and has three kids need the animations from Street Fighter EX?!

A not-entirely unrelated question: what kind of file format did you have in mind for storing and playing back the animation of a 3D model?

I also iphone dev.... its kind of my hobby. I ported Kenta Cho shmup, Tumiki Fighters to the iPhone. On my down time its what I do. I wanted to create a fighting game with the Arika licensed characters from the game and pitch the idea to them through a bud of mine who is in the game industry. Any basic 3d model format.
