I see you have the FDS Deep Dungeon 2 as an ongoing project and I was wondering if you have played the game to completion?

I'm currently playing the game and I am at the very last level of the dungeon, however, the last level is completely different from the maps at GameFAQs and even the niconico video walkthrough. I see that my rom is version 1.0 and there's a bad dump of a 1.1 floating around. Do you know if the map was changed for the later versions or if I'm missing some kind of item that's making the map look differently?

I only managed to get the bad ending (or what I suspect is the bad ending. I recall it sending me back to the start, and when I left the tower, I got a screen of text with some "evil" music.)
I think I also missed one of the items, that I was supposed to use on the final boss to get to the REAL final boss.

I also am disappointed that it doesn't seem there's an emulator that will let you change disks without resetting the emulated console. (although I guess this is the only game to use it, aside from the handful of visual novels that have been dumped as 2-disk/4-sided games, even though I understand the disks were sold separately.)
DD2 allows you to import your saved character from DD1 (though the Japanese DD2 isn't compatible with the English hack of DD1). Whenever I can get DD2 translated, I'll definitely try to hack it up so that the translated DD2 is compatible with the English hack of DD1.
(the problem is that the game uses a text file in DD1 to identify that the proper disk/side was inserted, and I had to expand the file and move the data to make DD1's text fit)
(so if you paste the two Japanese games together as a two-disk ROM (DD2 then DD1), it'll work (although to use save data from the English hack, you'd have to manually hack it into a copy of the Japanese DD1 first)

I figured it out. The version 1.1 of the rom is the one used for those Gamefaqs maps and niconico video walkthrough. Weird everyone used that one when the most common dump is the 1.0 version and the 1.1 is even labeled as a bad dump.

Unless... I did something terribly wrong the first 3 times I beat the 1.0 version and then magically did it right for the 1.1 version.

As for the bad ending, well, the only way you get that ending is if you accidentally kill a character that helps you, which so happens to be the last boss of the first game. Instead of killing him, you have to use the crest. Once you do, he'll tell you the location of the last boss. After that all you have to do is go to the 4th floor using another stair and you'll reach him.

I read in your page that all you need to complete the translation of this game is for someone to translate the intro and ending? I have someone that's going to translate the ending for me and I'm sure someone else can translate the short intro and I can bugtest the game since I pretty much know it inside out after having to beat it 4 times now.
