As usual, your videos hate me. The part I saw was familiar.

Will you have anything like the original CT's cutscenes if you don't press anything?

yea theres 13 or so different scenes that play out automatically, man i wish you could see the video >.<

get windows media player classic or VLC player, then save it and play it ^_^

Ah, that worked. I must say, the video is much better when it doesn't stop midway.  :beer:

So what exactly happens when you start the ROM, but don't go into the game itself?

exactly what you saw in the video. start the rom, and immediately it goes to the Zeal speech and then if you dont press any buttons (all the dialogue in that opening scene continues without any key presses), it shows the full intro. The entire thing is interruptable any time by pressing B. The "debug room", while hugely expanded, is accessable by holding down a certain key combination before the intro fully starts.

After you have a save created, zeal no longer appears as a shadow, as the game assumes you now know who he is.

how is this not a personal project, and how is this general romhacking?

this is not a tutorial for general roms, this is not a tool to hack general roms.

this is one specific hack. a personal project. a video displaying this hack's progress (although nothing major, its something)

i dont understand why this does not qualify as a personal project.

I also would like to know why this is general romhacking.

Totally agree here. This is clearly a personal project.

Granted, kando hadn't really said a lot about it, nor posted any screenshots. But uh, if you download the video he linked to, it's clear that it is.

He can't really show everything on it right now I'm sure because it's the "Taboo project" that got the Compendium massacred.  But it's pretty clear it is a personal project and he's pretty far on it too.
