They call it æ”¹é€ (ã‹ã„ãžã†ã€kaizou), or "modding".

Well, I found out they call mods モッド as in MOD and hackers ãƒãƒƒã‚«ãƒ¼ Hakkaa. However, I couldn't find anything for rom hacking or anything like that...

ãƒãƒ ãƒãƒƒã‚¯ (romuhakku) or ãƒãƒƒã‚¯ãƒãƒ (hakkuromu) is what I've seen. Though I suppose term kaizo was made more popular by two infamous SMW hacks. (which I understand the actual title, if any, was something generic like "My Super Mario World mod")

You might try any of the terms listed here. I'm guessing there is no standard term.

You think you'll be able to uncover any English to Japanese patches this way?

I've found a few cool videos just looking through NicoNico, searching the names of games, notably of hacks of classic games. There was this really awesome one of Final Fantasy V with content from IV and VI in it, music, and new classes and spells and a ton of other stuff I think.

Is there A specific Term for language patch in Japanese or is it just referred to as modding or romhacking?
