Basically, I was playing Mystic Ark, got to the point where I was supposed to receive the Wisdom Ark, but the chest it was supposed to be in was open somehow, and the Ark was not in my inventory or anything. I can't progress with the game without it, so I was just curious if someone could help me with a way to make the item appear in my Ark bottle via Hex or whatever. Smiley I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask for help.

Which version of the game were you playing? (DD or AG?)

I was on the Dynamic Designs 1.01. I do however have a the patch for the Aeon Genesis also sitting around somewhere.

That nobody's reported such bugs for my version makes me think that nobody's playing it, 'cuz I'd certainly be *very* surprised if we didn't miss at least something in that mess...

Kind of makes me Sad

Were you using any cheats throughout the game?  Most of the problems that people have had when playing any or our releases were due in part to them using cheat codes or having the wrong rom...

No, I didn't use any cheats. This is the first time I've played the game so I wouldn't want to cheat. Wink The rom however could have been bad. I really don't know. I was never blaming the patch anyway. I just figured some fluke happened and was trying to rectify it without restarting completely.

Hmm... Well, then I'm not sure what the problem is exactly.  Nobody else has reported this kind of error.  I would recommend that you let them (heh... us) know over at the Dynamic Designs website.  Maybe someone has an srm that you could use.  I also don't think it would be hard to just give you a code that would add the ark to your inventory.

Well, I have since restarted the game with the AG patch and a different base rom than I used before. I blazed my way back through to the place it happened and fortunately it didn't happen again. The chest was fine and I got the Ark. Since I did use different things I can't definitively say what part of the mix the problem was whether it be patch or rom, but since no one else has reported it, I'd wager it was more than likely the rom. I will replay the DD patch later though with the newer rom and see if it happens again. It actually didn't take as long as I thought it would to get back to where I was with ZSNES fast-forwarding. Tongue

EDIT: OBTW, thanks for the replies. I appreciate it. Cheesy

You're wrong too. See that:

(Ok, it isn't a bug. Only a revision lack...  )

I tried notice Gideon, but he ignored me. Embarrassed

Hmmpf... You'd be surprised how many bug reports I've gotten from players over the past few years.  Nearly 100% of them resulted from either having cheats enabled or from using a buggy rom.  I'd assume most other rom hackers out there have experienced similar reports after a release.

(Note: this excludes edits and the like Wink)

@denim Tactics Ogre FTW!

The only things I have seen off with the AG one so far is some of the item names, but those aren't necessarily "wrong", I don't think? Like the Heavy Blow? Cheesy Isn't that just being accurate even if it doesn't make sense?

I wouldn't call this a bug so much. It's a line overrun, and is easily fixed by replacing a space byte with a carriage return byte. At least, it certainly isn't a "bug"not compared to some of the crazy shit this game pulled which can cause just about *anything* to go horribly, horribly wrong at any given time. Draken knows what I'm talking about! Seriously, hacking this sucker's like trying to hit a home run off a live wasp nest with a solid wood baseball bat.

Hahaha. I remember how many random things would just go wrong in the middle of testing this. You'd fix one thing, seven other things break. >_>;
