Hey guys.

I have like 40 fonts, most from NES and MSX games. I know I can submit them here, however, they are not complete font sets. Most only have the alphabet + the most common punctuation marks and they are in the .bmp format Bitmap Font Writer uses.

Is it ok to still submit them? Or I could just put them in this topic for download and other more skilled people can fill in the missing characters?

Partial list:

Aleste 2 (MSX)
Alice in Wonderland (TG16)
Andorogynus (MSX)
Samurai Shodown 5 (Neo Geo)
Ashguine (MSX)
Final Fantasy (Wonderswan)
Fire Hawk Thexder 2 (MSX)
Gun Nac (NES)
Lagoon (SNES)
Treasure of Malaya (MSX)
Metal Gear 2 (MSX)
MSX and NES fonts (thick/thin/small) from several games.
Quest of Ki (NES)
S.C.I. (TG16)
Shockman (TG16)
Super Aleste (SNES)
Twinbee (NES)
Treasure of Usas (MSX)
Ghosts n Goblins (Wonderswan)

What characters are you considering missing? Alphabet + punctuation seems like all that is needed. If someone needs special characters he'll have to add them himself. Shouldn't matter if a dollar sign or stuff like that is missing. As long as the alphabet is complete I suggest submitting it.

Yes, the basic stuff is there. I'll submit them then, however, I don't have or know how to make table files. Is that mandatory?

Well, table files are really easy to make. Basically, they consist of a text file with a line for each character. Each line has the index of the character (in hex), and equals sign, and the character itself. Like so:

Code:
81=1
82=2
83=3

Also, if you've put the fonts in a specific order, rather than just in the order they where in game, you should be able to just make one table file.

Sorry, but it's too much to do. I guess more knowledgeable people can make their own table files if they choose to use these fonts.

Here are all my fonts for download in Bitmap Font Writer format:

I don't see why a TBL would be necessary. If someone used a font for their ROM hack, they'd need to build their own TBL file anyways based on the game being hacked.

If you use the font as it is provided, you can just add an offset the the current table entries and be done with it.
I sifted through the bitmaps. Many are missing numbers, there are some letters that are cut off. Also, the format is not the format that you're supposed to submit to the page anyway, so it would take a converter or much manual labor to convert it to something that can be inserted without much hassle..
