I've been trying to use SMB Title Editor v1.0 (made by Mana.) to edit the title on SMB1, however I keep running into the same problem. When I change the title, save it, and put the new rom into an emulator, the title colour changes to green (I'm pretty sure the palette isn't changing colour however, just seems that the title screen tiles are taking their colours from a different part of the palette - although I could be wrong). A light blue box apears too, strangely, which I can't figure out at all.

I've tried two different computers (one with Windows 7, another on XP), but both have the same results. I'm assuming there is a way of doing what I want to do with pure hex editing, but I can't figure out which numbers represent which tiles on the title screen (I'm just trying to edit the type using the same tiles).

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Use Beta's SMB Title Editor Instead, It's here under Utilities.

Other than that. Use a Hex Editor at 0x00009EC0  and such to edit it. Use XVI32, WinHex or Translhextion to Hex Edit stuff.

Thanks for the reply.

I've tried to use Beta's before, but I couldn't get it to save (despite being 99% sure that I was clicking the right button). I'll have another fiddle with it later today. Thanks for the hex help, I'll give that a go too!

[edit]

So, I've sorted out the hex for the title screen, but I have one problem. I can't work out how to remove the zero's that show the top score on the title screen. Is it possible to remove these? I can't see them within the code.
