Tonight I wandered around the web to all the places I thought might have released something that didn't already get submitted as news. The only releases I found were stuff that were released two months ago (small updates to Lunarcompress and Lunarmagic which I have updated on RHDN). I did however, find a bunch of recent project update stuff which I figured some of you might be interested in parusing. It seemed like a waste to just let all of this work wandering around dozens of translation sites go to waste, so here it is in handy dandy forum form.
- The FrontMission 5 Translation Project has updates strongly suggesting that they are damn near done with their translation. As a teaser, they've posted a translated manual and trailer to whet your apatite.
- Dynamic Designs, in addition to releasing 1.1 of their Mystic Ark translation, has some recent posts about progress made in three of their other projects, Chaos Seed, Burning Heroes, and Slayers. Evidently the main dialogue script for Chaos Seed has been translated and successfully inserted. Translations for the special events and menus remain to be done. Burning Heros has had three blocks of text translated, one edited and reinserted, and is in the process of being fitted with a VWF routine. Slayers is evidently in script editing with all the necessary tools already written. It is not explicitly stated how much (if any) text remains to be translated, but it looks like they're making great progress. Screenshots for all three projects are on their website.
- Nightcrawler's Transcorp has been updated with news on the Tenshi No Uta translation project and Nightcrawler's Universal VWF project. For those unaware, Nightcrawler has been working on a VWF library for use in SNES translations to basically give you the ability to drop a VWF in regardless of how the text engine is coded. He has used this developmental version to give Tenshi No Uta a variable width menu font. Screenshots of the new menu VWF are up on his website.
- Twilight Translations posted a brief blurb shortly after U.S. Thanksgiving noting that their translation of Dragon Ball Z: Hyper Dimension is in beta testing and should be releaed "soon." Titlescreen and menu screenshots are on their website.
- In non-translation news, The BS Zelda Homepage has posted some more updates on their map restoration project for the BS Zelda - Ancient Stone Tablet roms. (Actually, I guess this is sorta translation related since there is translated text in these, but its text that's been translated for quite some time, so.. meh.)
- Back to the translation world, and specifically to Klepto Software who is once again after a long absence working on a translation for Dark Half. A translator has stepped forward, progress is being made, there are screenshots, and I am looking at a game I have wanted to see translated for a LONG time. Sir Yoink, if you're reading this, you better not quit again damn it.
- Last but most certainly not least is the Nintendo DS translation by Absolute Zero of Tales of Innocence. Kingcom has updated the blog with details on some of the awesome little features he's been adding to the translation like the ability to turn subtitles on and off in real time during FMVs and some improvements to the equipment screen. Some rather impressive (as always) screenshots are up on their blog.
