I have two roms:

Final Fantasy IV (Japan).sfc

Final Fantasy IV (Japan) (Rev 1).sfc

Both have been verified using RomCenter v 3.40 and the latest SNES .dat I could find from 05/29/2009.

I have tested both using bsnes v 0.052 and they work just fine.

Now I have been trying to apply J2E's 10th Anniversary Edition v 3.21 retranslation IPS patch (FF4EV321.IPS) using a few different IPS patchers such as IPSWin v 2.0.

The patch seems to be successful, but when I try to launch the new patched rom in bsnes, it is just a black screen.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? ...or can anyone assist me?

I am using Windows 7 x64 RTM by the way.

Thanks!!!

Does the ROM have a header? If so, you might try removing the header and try to patch. This should help you with headers.

The opposite applies; J2e's translation was created when headers were more common.

Thanks guys, but still no luck. The ROMs had a header, so I removed the headers and they still will not work.  =/

**** EDIT: Okay, I am a dumbass. I tried it again after re-reading your instructions. My original ROMs (unpatched) did NOT have headers. So I added the headers AND THEN patched. Now they work!!!!!! You guys rock!!  \\m/  Thanks again!!!  *****
