I needed some help for extracting SMB1, SMB2(US), SMB2J(Lost Levels) and SMB3 into seperate roms (using IPS patches) so I can have better time playing and making my projects

Also, It will give me extra space to add simple ASM and Graphics.

it is really serious for SMAS Romhackers to have rom patches for seperate SMB games for SNES!.

If anyone figures it out. Good luck.

To turn that into a ips would mean someone else would have to have your special one game rom. So that would mean you would be better off sending as a rom, which would limit its distribution cause most rom hacking sites wont allow rom distribution.

Insectduel said it is possible to make an ZIP, RAR or 7Z archive with the roms and Patch an IPS file for use with an empty archive file with the same archive extention. so it is a new legal way to distribute them.

to make an ROM archive IPS:
1: make 1 ZIP file with roms in it
2: make 1 empty ZIP file
3: Go to your IPS maker program and put in

IPS file to create: (Patch name).IPS
File to make a Patch from:  (ROM archive name).ZIP

Then test it by putting the patch, I really hope it will work!

I don't see the advantage of splitting Super Mario All-Stars into separate games. From a ROM hacking perspective, you're free to hack any or all of the games present there and still create a single IPS patch. I don't see how hacking the game would be made any easier. In fact, it would make distributing your hack much more difficult since as mentioned nobody would have your source ROM. The method you describe seems like you're just sticking the ROM in the IPS. That defeats the purpose.

the IPS file will contain all of the data inside of the 1st zip, so it's the same thing as distributing the zip file, and basically the same as distributing the rom itself.

To add to frantik's explanation, just because the data isn't in the original format doesn't mean it's not illegal. Could you transcribe the contents of a PDF file into a text document and redistribute that legally (assuming it is illegal to redistribute the PDF)? No, because the original content still exists in some form. Same concept here.

And as for separating the games, like NC said it just makes things harder. If I remember correctly, each of the games share a certain amount of data, so you'd have to fully trace down each game to the byte in order to know what to split up and what to copy. Then, you'd have to go through all the effort of reinserting the data. In the end, it would be even more work than just hacking the game normally.

Why is this another standard "do the work for me" post?

Also, if you were even a remotely competent hacker (which your posts don't seem to prove much), you would find ways to make the individual game hacks work with each other (it's just space you're trying not to mess with).

Besides, splitting the games would be a huge hack in itself to begin with and most likely not worth the time invested in doing it.
