hay guyz, what's a good tool to make IPS patches with? i used to use IPS XP, but now that i've reformatted, i figure i might as well use a new/different/better one.
i suppose i'd use NINJA or byuu's new format or somesuch, but emus don't have autopatching support for that.
EDIT: also, what are good hex editors?
EDIT 2: what the heck? what program lets you make the standard ISO or BIN/CUE format images from the old days? it seems every program now has its own proprietary image format... what the hell?

Lately i have been using ipsexe15, has the feature of creating a self-exe patch to apply, without the need of a ips patching tool

Lunar IPS is the only one for me. I don't know what's the other best one. I know WinIPS is another that most Japanese Hackers use but I don't know what's the difference.

Lately i have been using ipsexe15, has the feature of creating a self-exe patch to apply, without the need of a ips patching tool The only problem with this is that the executables produced only work on DOS or Windows operating systems, unless you've got an emulator or something set up, which makes the whole patching process a lot harder than it needs to be.

I use Translhextion and Windhex. Both have different bugs, though... so I just use 'em depending on what I need.

I'd like to take this time to make a quick plug for HxD. http://mh-nexus.de/programs.htmAs everybody surely knows, Hex Workshop is not free. In an effort to replace many of my 'shady' programs with legal freeware alternatives, I had a hard time finding a hex editor still being actively worked on today that was as feature rich, and had a nice easy interface as Hex Workshop. Well, after some searching, I found HxD. I've been pretty impressed with it. It can do alot of what Hex Workshop can do, and it's pretty easy to use. I have been using for a while now as my general hex editor of choice. In conjunction with Windhex, It satisfies my ROMhacking needs. So, you may want to give this editor a try. It's the best freeware general hex editor I've tried so far.

what i forgot to say last post is... thanks, everyone! and teh winnars are: IPS Maker: LunarIPS Hex Editors: WindHex and HxD the two hex editors above get extra points for allowing you to change fonts, which allows me to use the almighty consolas font. i remember Hex Workshop being really good too, but again, it's not freeware. if you're curious as to my previous programs: IPS Maker: ips XP Hex Editors: Thingy (yes, Thingy... and i'll probably continue to use it, too ) and Cygnus (which is also not freeware)

I've been using LunarIPS and snesedit... It's DOS, but it's worked really well for me, so long as I use it mainly as a hex-editor and not something like an ips patch maker (it's produced buggy patches on me a few times before)
