but while SNES9x is great, does it have any features that the others won't have or do better in the next release? A debugger that isn't trash. Okay, so it's -mostly- trash, but it's better than what ZSNES has. bsnes's debugger is/was fantastic, but bsnes is pretty slow on my machine so it doesn't count :/

I like what I'm seeing Gid, nice work. I can't wait for the next releases of ZSNES and bsnes. Won't they pretty much render most other SNES emulators obsolete? at least temporarily, besides SNESGT which still provides significantly more Satellaview Emulation.
but while SNES9x is great, does it have any features that the others won't have or do better in the next release?
same with Trac's work, I mean the guy is a genius, but I mean the ones I mentioned are the ones that are bringing the future, no?
Snes9x has always been second banana and I disliked it a lot. I only used it for titles that didn't work in zsnes. It did serve a purpose but now I dunno... Tho I love bsnes with all my heart and will never use another emulator again as long as I live.

I didn't mean to display any kind of hate, or bring any out.
everyone seems to have their favorite, but the debugger temporarily slipped my mind.
now seems to be a good time for emulators though, for all systems, all sorts of talent is coming out of the woodwork.

- slightly better rerecording support in the TAS builds - better integration into the Windows environment - doesn't feel like a DOS application, e.g. task-switching feels smoother - saves savestates right before rendering the screen - useful to get HDMA info - interpolated Mode7 plane - better platform independence - not so many updates - savestate compatibility is more stable

Interpolated Mode 7 was removed at some point from Snes9x.

well then, that would explain me forgetting, hmm, that's a let down, I guess it came with their major overhaul a bit back eh? well you know, I guess it was for the greater good at that point.

Not from the build I use.

IIRC, it was for emulation accuracy. On the other hand, you have never seen the kinds of people moaning about how everything should be transformed/translated in OpenGL for speed reasons. (It could be done, at the complete expense of emulation accuracy, plus some effects might simply not translate well, if at all... probably most of the Mode 7 stuff I guess.) Then again, the people that have decent OpenGL hardware usually have very competant systems to begin with. Interpolated Mode 7 was removed at some point from Snes9x.
Not from the build I use. Hax! Seriously, a big meh here. but while SNES9x is great, does it have any features that the others won't have or do better in the next release? A debugger that isn't trash. Okay, so it's -mostly- trash, but it's better than what ZSNES has. bsnes's debugger is/was fantastic, but bsnes is pretty slow on my machine so it doesn't count :/ From that comment alone, I guess it would justify dumping what is there and rewriting that altogether at the same time the core is redone. I couldn't really fathom its usefulness given how it was coded (let's say it wasn't integrated well, since DOS was ZSNES's first port and many parts of the code weren't written well as it could back then).

Lets just hope Vice doesn't get pissed off and rebel by making the game crash to hell and back.

Well, I've stopped working on TO for now :p Working on some of my other games that are either closer or just as close to release, games that I'm more excited about. Like Metal Max.
