*sigh* Start with the basic hacks first. Check out the docs we have here on graphics hacking.

In Pokemon, at least in the GB(C) games, battle sprites are compressed, if I remember right, there are documents on decompressing and compressing them.
I too really suggest you search for docs specifit to the series, there is a bunch, and also learn at least the basic of rom hacking (you'll really need that), and then use utilities. A very compete map editor for Pokemon G/S/C exists, but I don't know where it can be found on the web nowadays.

Somehow, I've always been thinking about this. >_> Too bad I don't have the knowledge nor the motivation to hack. Tongue

Just look at Giegue's document, I posted it to RHDN the day I saw this topic, it conatins probaboly all the info you might need. I you need any of the tools (mainly related to maps, trainers, gyms, etc., AND YOU CAN'T FIND THEM, I have them)

Thinking about that... Most of the utilities are very crappy, and are lots of them, but they are a pain in the ass to find on the net... should I post them here? What do you guys think?

Make a little selection and chose the best ones.

You guys made it too easy for him. I would have never gone through the trouble to post the link.

Yup, the problem is that each tool is for a different purpose or game... I think I'm going to post the tools for aspects not covered in that guide, or too large to do without them, like map editing.
