The guy who released a recent string of DBZ translations seems to be fond of the ".rup" extension for his patches. However, I can't seem to find a program that can patch with them correctly, and simply renaming them to ".ips" doesn't work.
Any suggestions? Who the hell uses .rup anyway?

Since I am that guy, I'll answer it: it's in the readme. Specifically under section 4: Patch History. Even better it's on line 157 in Gaiden's readme like this:

Sure thing. Let me know what you think after you've played it.

I guess this is a good time to mention that D has no intentions of allowing RHDN to have anything to do with NINJA from here on out. So, we have no choice but to drop further support of NINJA.
Guess we'll have to see who steps up to the plate next with something to get out of the starting gates. Hopefully the next author/s will be a bit more mature about it. At this rate, IPS will still be around next decade.

Awww, no love for V Gundam? Hey! They ain't seen nothing yet! And that really sucks about D no letting RHDN have anything to do with NINJA.... I guess I'll work on creating IPS patches for the two games I did release in NINJA's format and just do dual patches from now on.

If he ever finishes the format he's working on... Since you know, he's too damn busy these days. (I prefer an accurate SNES emulator over a new patching format anyway!) I liked Ninja, but again, egos get in the way.

You can go to Ninja page from RH.NET without problem ( http://ninja.cinnamonpirate.com/). I think only the main domain is banned from RH.NET. It's not because the format creator has his "mood" that this format has to be dropped.

However, it IS his format, and we don't want to get into the habit of pissing all over creators' rights just because we don't agree with their decisions. I don't really believe he can stop us from hosting Ninja PATCHES, but he is well within his rights to prevent us from hosting the tool itself. Since I highly doubt that he'd ever tell us if he moves it, any links or directions of where to get it have no guarantee of still being valid a week from now. I'm all for hosting patches, but we can't completely change format for the simple reason that he could pull his tool at anytime, or at least make it disappear without telling us, and that would render any Ninja patches that we do have useless.

It's not because the format creator has his "mood" that this format has to be dropped. As of this morning both one of my IP ranges and the referred links from the site and accessing files from there from the site system were still banned. Obviously something has changed this afternoon. D couldn't even speak to me intelligently when last I brought up NINJA and instead insisted upon desires to to receive fellatio. If the site is blocked from NINJA, I as staff am blocked from NINJA, and the creator wants nothing to do with the site, you tell me how we could ever successfully support such nonsense? And then tell me WHY we would even want to? It was argued not too long ago how volatile a patch format created and maintained by one person is. This is direct evidence of such.

Sure thing. Let me know what you think after you've played it. Looking pretty nice so far; I got a decent way's through the game using an older, semi-translated patch and VegitaBOD's FAQ, though any special moves I pulled off were entirely accidental. Seems like a pretty nice translation. By the way, just as a bit of info, the Playdia version of the game preceeded the OVA release. The Playdia was a sort of animated "Choose your own adventure" with Dragonball Z characters; there were many ways you could go through the game, opting to use different moves and focus on different characters throughout the storyline (I think it was a brilliant idea myself; there must have been a large amount of labor involved). In any case, the OVA is nothing more than a splicing together of game footage (you might say it's really just some guy's playthrough of the game, minus the button menus, and with some added NES footage to limit the length of the movie). That's what I was told on various sites, anyway. And it also makes sense, considering the OVA was never officially released (hence its cult name as the "Lost movie") and can really only be found on bootlegs and file sharing networks.
