After discovering the armor bug in v1.0, I've been working on the hack. Much has been fixed, balanced, and added. This includes:

Armor works. :p

Massive gameplay adjustments: You gain money faster, weapons are stronger and cost less, some PSIs are more powerful.

Two new items: The Pill, which is like a "Hipotion" type item. The original weak healing item called the Pill is now called the Herb. I also created an item called Opta, which boosts your Agility, Luck and Psyche by +1, permanently.

A new subquest has been added, which is required to learn the Level 7 and 8 PSIs.

The title screen and intro screen have been redone.

Muzzle flash animation when Sargon attacks.

Black dialogue boxes, with disabled sprite layer.

Treasure chests are more visible in dungeons.

The super secret items in the game have hints to their locations.

Lots of bug fixes; primarily the attackable tiles in people's houses.

*edit*
v1.26 adds being able to see chest contents if your inventory is full, and a bunch of data sheets for the game.

And more. There may well be one last version with expanded maps (We found a way to squeeze more map data into the ROM), but as far as gameplay is concerned this should be it.

The homepage has also been updated with new images, and a bunch of statistical information that may be of help in playing the game (Monster lists, equipment lists, PSI explanations, etc).

Huzzah! Grin
Please have my babies Smiley

The atmosphere is nice, and so is the music.
If you had the time (and the will), you should work on an OST

Edit: Small nit. The site "library > gear list" page is still titled "bestiary".

Why don't you submit this to the database?

Sounds like a nice update overall... I'm really going to have to give this a try sooner or later, especially since it's from someone in my area. Wink

(I used to live in Dunbar, and worked in Charleston a few years ago, and am in Parkersburg again for now -- Sliver X may very well be the only one here who knows where any of those places are though).  Wink

I used to live in Nitro, I work in Cross Lanes, and have friends in St. Albans and Dunbar, so I'm really familiar with this area, though I've only lived here for a little over three years (I'm from the Beckley area originally).

I'm about to move to San Francisco at the end of this month, though.

Sorry for the bump, but Thaddeus and I discussed the hack the other day, and decided that v1.26 will be the absolute final version of the game.

So yay, and all that. It's finally completed (3 years, 8 months...).

Southark, there's a quote button. Would you please, pretty please, use it?

As for DXO, well...Maybe it's just that I've been playing SNES games & such for years, but I'm not really all that impressed.
