Hi all,
My name is kenghot my site is www.kenghot.com, I come from small country "Thailand". I just completed 100% for ff3 nds translation to my own language (Thai) and released it to Thai's gamer on 11/1/2006 .
It quite successful for this project. So I need to do next project and I've plan to translate FF5 or FF6 on GBA . After I start hacking gba rom , i've found that it's more difficult than NDS . So, Anybody would tell me , where should i start or what exactly i need to know for hacking GBA rom?

Best Regard,
Kenghot

Well, uh...wow. At first I was kinda freaked, but damn, you've got your Thai fan translation out before the official English one. Congratulations!

As for GBA ROMs...since I've never done anything NDS-related, I don't know where to begin explaining the differences. ^_^; Wish I could help you there...

Dude, I think you just made history. I think your translation is the first for the DS ever.

For nsd , I used dslazy to unpack rom and the i get files from it. It also have dialog files and fonts files . So, i can chang fonts and dialog messages it that files. But GBA is not , i can't unpack rom such as nds . And i don't know how to find font table offset or each dialog message offset. Would u give me some advise?

I'm fairly sure there's been some Spanish ones already.

I wish I could, but I don't even know where to begin. You've effectively skipped over almost everything we consider "basic romhacking knowledge" and still completed a full translation...

My recommendation: go over the documents we have here about the basics, no matter how remedial they seem. Much of cartridge-based romhacking is puzzle-solving: the files that were so easy to pick apart on DS are jammed together into one lump in other places, and much of the work is figuring out where one piece begins and another ends.

After i spend few days around here. I think ffv is over my effort. It's compression thing. I almost surrender. And hope ffvi gba will be easier. Does anyone have a plan to translate FFVI gba, that'll come out end of this month?

For me , i come from Thailand , we have our own language "Thai". Almost gamer in thia are not good in English as well , that's why my FF3 translation was so popular in Thailand. So, I have plan to translate All Final fantasy series . I hope some people in here was not use english language like me.

Well as far as I know, you're the ONLY Thai person here. Smiley I'm fairly sure nobody here will translate those games to Thai, so go on and translate them.

Wow, kenghot is my new hero. If I knew other languages, I'd do some translation as well, but he's bringing an entire series to Thai; now that's impressive!

I think he's asking if someone plans to translate it to any language, say Gemini to Italian or something, for example, and hoping he can get some pointers.
