Hiya there! I'm new. I don't have much of a history in coding, but after seeing video clips from "Pokémon: Chaos Black" on YouTube, I am really interesting in making my own version. Smiley
I have found a few sources for the Rom-hacking software, but all of it seems to be for the PC.

My question is, is there a Mac Rom-hacking program available, and where can I get it?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Unfortunately, the lion's share of tools seem to be written for Windows.

I gave somebody a beta patch for SF1 only to discover that they had a Mac. Rather than try to lead them through the Herculean task of getting NINJA to work through PHP on their system, I gave them an IPS instead. >_>

Forgive me for my ignorance, but what is IPS?

Old patching standard that is in the process of being phased out. it has a lot of problems.

Ah, okay. Guess I'm S.O.L then, which is probably just fine- I really have no technical knowledge. I'm an artist, not a programmer. Smiley

Hehe, sort of on that same note, any chance I could trade art or money in exchange for a customized ROM of my very own? Wink

extremely unlikely. think winning the lotto unlikely.

however, there are utilities for some games that allow for altering them without coding knowledge. they are limited in some ways(some types of stuff isn't possible, like changing the engine of the game itself, I believe), but it depends on the game and the utility. I tihnk there are utilities for the old red and blue games in the site's archive, but I am not sure.

What kind of art do you do?

I'm an okay title screen designer, but there's LOTS of stuff that I can't handle. Maybe you could do designs for people, with a little bit of training on how to make images that can be converted easily to standard SNES formats.

(On that note, have we met before? Your name seems familiar but I can't place it.)

If you're any good at pixel art at low res with ironclad palette restraints, The Romhacking World Needs You!

It's very likely, as you seem to be a fur. Smiley I am on FurAffinity, DeviantArt, and Livejornal, maybe you've seen me around one of those sites.

As for what kind of art I do, there's the furry stuff obviously, but I can pretty much do anything. Certain things I am better at, of course.

I'm okay at pixel art... it kind of makes my head hurt, but I used to do it all the time in middle school. Here are some recent icons I made for my boyfriend, if you're curious to see.

How many colors is that using?

If you can do that in 16 colors or 4 colors, you might have just earned yourself a job in the romhacking community.

That's awesome. I think someone around here would hire you, since pixel art is ridiculously complex with the (resolution and palette)restrictions.
If you'd really like to contribute, post a help wanted ad about your skills. Wink

Damn, I knew it! Growly the Bear! I've seen your Furbid ads at various LJ communities and we have several mutual LJ friends. (Xainy made my icon!)

By the way...

Care to make a title screen for Samurai Pizza Cats? ;P

Samurai Pizza Cats

Man, every time people start talking about old cartoons, I mention the Samurai Pizza Cats, and nobody knows what the hell I'm talking about. I WORSHIPED that cartoon when I was 6!
It's nice to know someone else remembers besides me. Tongue

Hee! Ditto. Smiley It was the first anime I ever saw as a kid.

To answer your question, Kitsune Sniper... I dunno if I have time to devote myself to complex pixel 'freebies'.
Sorry- I'm a full time art school student.
