Hey guys, old-school emulation scene guy back from the dead. Some of you might remember me as either MaDsKiLlZ or Sniper_Cass, those we're old alias I took on, I used to work with TigerClaw and Satsu back in the Square Translations days, but yeah, that was like, 8 years ago?

Nevertheless, I left the emulation scene a while ago, let alone emulation altogether. I just got back to getting back my old SNES favorites and wanted to get around to uploading a few of the roms into my XBOX to be played on it for a more console like feeling.

The thing is, most of my favorites are Japanese roms. Now, to be able to play it on the XBOX translated, I'd have to patch the rom manually, not automatically like ZSNES used to do it back in the day. I actually have to apply the patch over the original rom and alter it. Now I remeber being able to do this with SNESTool, the problem is now that it's script doesn't seem to be compatable with Windows XP.

Anyone know a way to get around this problem I'm dealing with? I searched the site but can't seem to find a patching program that'll allow this for Windows XP, in fact, SNESTool seems to be the only one that manually applied patches to roms... it was indeed an all-in-one easy to use tool.

If there's nothing else, is there a way to get SNESTool to work?

Oh really ...?

From Utilities category Patchers:
IPS Wiz
IPS XP
Lunar IPS
NINJA 2.0
Stealth Patch
UIPS

I proclaim your first post a miserable fucking failure.

Say hi to TigerClaw for me.

Oh, and SNESTool still works with XP. It's what I used to create most of my patches up until six months ago.

Yeah, I second what they said. We have many patchers that will work fine in XP. And SNESTool itself also still works fine in XP.

I just want to mention that Ninja is sex in a can. Or a patcher, as the case may be. It's the only patcher I know of where you can double-click THE FREAKING PATCH and patch the ROM that way. As long as it supports your patch you're good to go.

Of course, I don't know if the whole double-click the patch thing works on non .rup patches, as I haven't tried. Still, though, it's one of the most user-friendly patchers I've ever seen.

LunarIPS also has double click support.

Didn't know that. It's still an awesome feature that I wish more patchers had. It certainly makes patching significantly easier for those of us who are lazy at times.

The reason I probably couldn't find a good patching program was because I searched under the following directory:

Platform: Super Nintendo
Category: Patching

I guess limiting my search to Super Nintendo only gave me SNESTool, since the other patching tools D listed weren't in that search directory.

Well, thanks guys. Really appreciate the help. Woulda been cooler if D wouldn't have been as big a douche as he was by calling my first post a miserable fucking failure, but that's all good. Nice to see the Emulation community is still active and as networked as ever. I'll be dropping by more often.

Tiger says hi by the way.

Haha, hey Gid. I still name my MMORPG characters after you to this day.

I remember you sent me a script for... what was it now... Moryou Senki Madara 2 I think, and then I totally dissapeared from the emulation scene. How's that project doing now? Wink

School started to get really tough, and I had to work full-time to save up for university so I basically just banned myself from the emulation scene, it was too addictive and whatnot. A year later I got absorbed into the MMORPG scene, namely Ragnarok Online for a few years then after that World of Warcraft, which I still play to this day.

But yeah man, I'm doing really well now. I have a lot of spare time with my current school schedule and whatnot so I hope to make a reappearence in the scene.
