Host other than Geoshitties?

I'm really interested in this. I've loved RoboWarrior ever since my dad almost murdered me for running into the room so hard, the vibrations from my feet made the NES reset right when he was finally fighting Zed.

well the levels are going to be a little more difficult in that there will be things like mazes, hidden-but-necessary items, and whatnot. if i learn to asm hack the game maybe there bill be difficulty selection incorporated  Undecided\

yeah i'm far too poor for hosting. if you know of someone who wouldn't mind hosting that would be helpful (even an ftp would suffice  Wink )

This is a nice free webhost:

http://www.awardspace.com/

But it doesn't allow zip files. However you can use one of these sites for your zip files:

Tell me how much space you want, how much bandwidth you need, and promise not to upload child porn.

i suppose 5MB would be more than sufficient, it'll just be for screenshots and i can definitely use it sparingly. bandwidth doesn't much matter because, again, it will just be for screenshots. thanks, i appreciate your help.

on a more depressing note:
last night i foolishly wrote over all my progress on level 1, 2, and the openeing stage - no biggie, it was only a few days work. good thing for me i have those screenshots up on geocities so I CAN REBUILD!

Ooh! Bummer, I know how that's like.  That's why you need to keep several hundred copies & versions of your game.

As mentioned before, googlepages.com is a fairly good hosting option. Ad-free 100mb of space.

no need, D threw me a bone (thanks again btw). it's a smaller bone than googlepages provides, but i'm not a very hungry dog  Wink

on another note, development has slowed in the level-designing area of my project lately. rest assured that it's still under way though. i've been wrestling with which would take longer - manually designing the levels using a hex editor (pain in the ass to do) OR visually creating them with an editor (pain in the ass to make).

if someone would like to try an make an editor for me, I have all of the necessary info (offsets for every piece of level data, all tile index info, and any other info you may need). i don't expect any volunteers, but i know some of us get bored and want to venture into side projects...

I think the only way to make RoboWarrior harder than the original would be to make the bombs explode even faster and have a thousand more of those spider-guys who can kill you in one hit.

just a heads-up for anyone interested in this project - i'm still progressing, albeit slow. had to recently start a new job, move to a new condo, and i found some hot squish that gives me almost no free time.

i've already got the bomb speed hacked in ROM - you can set it to any speed between 0 and ~6 seconds. i've also got the energy drain speed hacked in ROM, so any added difficulty with lowering bomb speed can be compensated for a slower energy drain.

Is it possible to hack the randomness of how the items appear?  It pisses me off when I can't find a candle to go underground.
