I forgot I had so many MAME roms. I collected them for a while and kept an extensive collection. Then it started to update semi-weekly and I just didn't have to time to sit on IRC and look for the right fserves. So, I'm left with a large, but incomplete collection of arcade roms. That translates into tons of Mah Jong games, lots of Japanese Quiz Games, countless Street Fighter II clones, and a few really solid arcade games.

I decided back in my freshman year to figure out how to play these arcade Mahjong games, since I had just downloaded oh so many of them (at least a hundred). I started out by looking at the controls in MAME. I have buttons for A through N, then other ones for Ron and Chi and Pon and a few others. So, I just started playing them, trying to figure it out on my own. Ha. If anyone has figured these games out on their own, without any prior knowledge of the game, I tip my figurative hat to them. So I search myself up some rules. Problem here is that MahJong is typically a four player game, not a two player game. I found all the rules for the four player version, and tried to adapt them. I kinda got it. With those rules in mind, I tried to figure it all out. I got a bit better (i'd win about 1 in 10 games), but eventually stopped trying.

So, like I said, I forgot I had so many MAME roms. I decided to play a few MahJong games last night to see if I still knew what I was doing. I forgot the Chinese characters for 5-9, so that was a bit of a handicap. Still, I was winning. A lot. I don't know how I managed to do it, but I was really getting my money's worth out of the fake quarters I put into it. It was more fun than it was annoying. Either I got better, or I was just playing easier games. (I usually play "Mahjong The Lady Hunter" because you play as batman and you hit the girls in the head with a batarang when you win. This time I was playing "Lovely Pop Mahjong Jan Jan Shimasyo", which is quite a bit different, soo....).

The point: none. Sniff you jerks later.
