The 100 Deaths of Cartio - 005
Cartio awoke to a foggy surrounding.
Hmm...this is creepy, even for
a guy who knows he's going to die soon. Around him, all he could
see were some dirt paths and some broken down houses. He walked down the
path, alone, with only the occasional lantern peeking through the fog
to light his way. Further along down the path, Cartio caught the glare
of a man's glasses. He approached the man cautiously.
"Hello...?"
Cartio prompted.
The man didn't reply.
"Can you tell me
where I am, or, better yet, how to get out of here?"
The man looked at Cartio, gave of a chuckle, and then stabbed him in
the side.
"You coward! I'll
get you for that"
Cartio took a swing at the man, but he quickly moved away and dissapeared
into the fog.
Okay, now I know I gotta get out of here. Cartio
noted the man's footprints in the mud, but decided it was best not to
look for the man and continued down the path, bleeding all the while.
Further down the path he went until he came across a red ball on the ground.
A ball...hmm... Cartio bent down to pick it up. When he stood
back up, he was stabbed in the back with the knife.
"Gah!," yelled
Cartio in pain, "I'll kill you for this old man!"
Cartio looked down for footprints.
Hmm...these are bigger than the
other ones. There's more than one person involved here. Cartio, now
bleeding from two wounds, continued down the path. Further and further
he went, and the lights became less and less frequent. He stumbled upon
a large tree with a large sign carved into it. It was a line with a triangle
pointing down on top. From the two top points on the triangle came two
straight lines that crossed over each other and the line and continued
down to near the bottom of it. Cartio, puzzled by the sign, looked around
and found a steel relic, just like the sign, on the ground. He looked
around and, cautiously, bent down and picked it up. When he got up, he
turned around, ready to fight, but there was no one there.
Okay, this
getting really wierd.
Cartio continued walking down the path. This time, it seemed, hours passed.
All was black by now and Cartio was getting really light-headed from the
blood loss. Up ahead, Cartio saw some lights. Small lights. Candle lights.
He went closer and closer to them and finally reached them. The light
was eerie. They seemed to only light the inside of the path they formed,
nothing on the outside.
Is this for real? He reached his hand into
the darkness.
Water? But how? As he pulled his hand out, the darkness
around him rippled. Cartio, nearly passed out, marveled at the sight.
The ripples started to lessen, and faces were starting to be seen in the
water. Suddenly, knives stabbed out from all throughout the darkness.
Cartio, being a general of the highest degree, always knew his injuries.
He had been stabbed 48 more times, totalling 50 in all.
Cartio stood, in shock, and noticed the ripples. They formed the same
design as the relic he had in his hand. He looked to his hand to see the
relic, it had turned black. Then darkness started spreading from it. Soon
all was black yet again...
