The 100 Deaths of Cartio - 004

Cartio awoke to the sound of a screaming crowd. Not a happy scream, though, an angry, hateful one. What are they yelling at? Cartio wormed his way to the front of the crowd. Just a building...what gives? Suddenly, a loud, echoing ring went off. He noticed the large clock on the building. Noon. So now what? No sooner then had Cartio finished his thought that the crowd rushed foward towards the building. Cartio, being in the crowd, decided to follow, lest he be crushed underfoot.

The crowd ran towards the building, and then forced the door open. Then, six men from the crowd went inside. After about a minute, a gunshot was heard. The men returned, one of them, apparently the leader, held the head of the victim high in the air. The crowd's cheer grew louder than ever. Then the leader spoke:

"No longer shall we be under his tyrannical rule!"

The crowd cheered loudly again.

"So, what do we do now?" asked Cartio, who was pretty bored of cheering.

"Destroy the building, of course. Destroy the building!"

The crowd went wild. Rocks were being thrown, windows were being broken, fires were set ablaze. It was like a little piece of Armageddon. Alright! I haven't destroyed anything for a while now. Cartio grabbed a piece of a lead pipe from off of the floor and started to smash some stuff outside. Hmm...out of stuff to smash...inside for me.

Cartio and a few other rioters went inside the building. Ah, pleanty of stuff in here. Cartio took his pipe and broke a couple of tables and vases. However, as he was destroying things, a group of men ran down from the second floor. The men, all dressed in uniform, pulled out their guns and aimed at the rioters inside. Uh oh, better act fast. Cartio looked around for resources. Ah, this'll do. Cartio grabbed one of the rioters and shoved him directly into the men. Gunfire started immediately. Cartio ran quickly into one of the rooms in the hallway.

"Hey! Get out of my office," said a man inside the room.

"Sorry," replied Cartio quickly, as he bashed the mans skull in with the pipe.

Cartio threw his pipe aside. Gotta be something good in here. He looked inside every cabinet and drawer but found nothing of use. Hey, whats this. He saw a small compartment on the floor and, upon opening it, discovered some dynamite. Hmm...this could come in handy. Cartio searched himself and found some matches. He lit the dynamite, waited for a pause in the gunfire, and chucked it out the doorway.

The explosion was incredible to say the least. As it turns out, all of the rooms on the first floor had hidden caches of dynamite in the floors and the explosion triggered one after another until the entire building was reduced to burning rubble. Cartio, crushed from the ribs down and burning, saw what he had done. Everyone in the buiding was surely dead or dying. The rioters outside were being crushed by flaming chunks of flying debris. At least 70 or 80 people dead because of it.

"Oh well," chuckled Cartio to himself, "I've done worse..."

Once again, all faded to black.
