Hey hey hey...let me sum up the past few days. Firstly, Paul came and visited for the whole week, so much crowdedness and warezing and dbzing was at hand. I don't know if that's what threw everything off this week, but it's definately part of it. But this was a good thing.

The week went on until it ended...well, friday, anyway. So, once Paul grabbed the last of his warez, he was off...and so were we. In an IM that occured sometime earlier in the week, my dad told me to spend more money. And here I thought I was spending too much money. How silly of me. So, we were off to the bank. That is, until we got to Eric's car. It wasn't starting. He was rather pissed. Moreso than usual. Life had really been kicking him in the nuts that day, so I felt a bit sorry for him. However, seeing his broken down car reminded me of a Kids in the Hall sketch. Penpen, too. So as Eric was cursing his car, me and Penpen were kicking his car and laughing. I'm not sure if this helped his situation at all, but I really couldn't help it. After a few attempts and some advice from my dad, Eric discovered that his dome light had been left on and that drained his battery. Take that battery. Anyway, his battery was charged back up and we were on our way to the bank for money. Yadda, yadda, yadda...

Yeah, more NES games. That pretty much ended that day. The next day, we all slept 'till about 1:30. I wasn't expecting this at all. Anyway, we decided to move our room around a bit. Basically, move the beds into a triple bunk, and then shove them against the other wall, thus freeing up space for a couch. Small problem, no couch. We decided to move things anyway. Here's some keen mspaint diagrams:

Moving on, a bunch of us went to see Laser Pink Floyd. I wasn't all too impressed. It was worth the $5 I paid to go see it, at least. Anyway, once that finished, Eric decided that he wanted to go to the emergency room. His gut has been hurting him for a day or two and he thinks he has appendicitis. So, he's there now, as I'm typing this, so I don't know if he has it or not. I'm hoping not...assuming it's something not as bad. Anyway, wish him the best and such.

Last and least, site news. I still haven't touched the music section. Suprise suprise. I did, however, add the Haiku link to the nav bar. I also fixed the nav bar in the links page... even though no one ever goes there. Yup, that about does it.

And it almost feels okay...

Instead of working on the music section, I'll just rant about music here.

The Weakerthans. Catchy songs and excellent lyrics. I had a pile of mixed tracks from these guys lying around. Having the excellent resource that is RIT's dc hub, I decided to grab the albums in their entirety.

I've been listening to Left & Leaving for a little while (one or two times through). The songs are catchy in themselves, but it's the lyrics that really make them great. There are few albums that I can sit down and read the lyrics along with. This is one of them. I can literally sit at my computer with the lyrics page in front of me and read along for the whole 52 minutes and 9 seconds and honestly enjoy myself. Whenever I attempt to write anything remotely poetic, I always kinda hope that it'll come out like these ones. It's like he takes a few random witty phrases, like "comes with a free fake smile for all your dumb demands" or "in love with love, and lousy poetry" or "full of all our changing that isn't change at all" and mixes them into songs that end up telling stories filled with so much imagery.

That's the other cool part of the lyrics. The imagery. They paint these great pictures, at least they do for me, with words like "We've found some lovely ways to disappoint, but the airport's almost empty this time of the year, so let's go play on a baggage carousel" or "I'm standing on this corner. Can't get their attention. Facing rush hour faces turned around. I clutch my stack of paper, press one to a chest, then watch it swoop and stutter to the ground" or "My city's still breathing (but barely it's true) through buildings gone missing like teeth. The sidewalks are watching me think about you, all sparkled with broken glass." Hrm...looking at them on their own, they don't seem all to poetic. With the music though, it's like your there. Really.

Anyway, The Weakerthans rule. Easily one of my favorite bands. 'Aside' is easily one of my favorite songs ever. If you haven't heard them, go do so. You won't be dissapointed.

You strung the colored lights...

Mmm....Hum....i love this band...and i finally have a legitamate copy of one of their cds! Speaking of music, I sorta started on the 'music' section of the site. I layed out a sort of outline for it, but then realized that no one really visits here, so I simplified it quite a bit. It will (probably) consist of reviews, quotes, releases, and links. They'll all be sorta kept together...somehow...like I said, 'sorta started' on it.

I spent most of friday night fixing up my MAME collection. Sometime this morning, I finally got it finished. All the roms. The only problem is that I forgot to separate the new roms from the old roms, so I have to do a bunch of extra crap in order to find and separate them so that i can burn them to a cd....but I'm happy to have a true complete set of them nonetheless.

I finally got around to playing Castlevania II. I beat it rather easily. I got the worst ending, but I beat it nonetheless. Now if only I had my copy of cv3... I guess I could play the original, but Death is so freaking hard to beat. I've only done it once...and it was a double KO. Oh well.

Well, this update has been sitting unfinished in notepad for two days now. There was a fire alarm in my building the other night...that kinda sucked. Hrm...I downloaded Chevelle's new album. 'Tis a good one. Much rocking to be had. I would have actually bought the cd (gasp!) but Bestbuy decided not to have any copies on hand. Hrm...try to write updates in the morning kinda sucks. I've decided to try and rant less about "what I did" and more on "what I've seen". Dunno if it'll be any more or less interesting, but I guess I won't really know until I try it.

Now, I must learn everything and more...lest I fail just about every class I'm taking (all 3 of them...). And I lost my fricken' watch!!!

New taste...same lack of jaunt...

From out of the darkness (and 6 floors below me), an IM window did pop up and did decree that the hunt for a jaunty cap shall be continuing and that I shall be going What Choice Do I Have!!!! Anyway, that was yesterday. So we (Eric, Dave, Dan, Kate, and myself) went to the car of choice, that being Erics, since we actually have keys to it, and went off to the mall. We got to the mall around 5:15pm. The mall closes at 6:00pm. So, off we went to find jaunty caps. No go. We looked at some posters in the old posters and other old stuff store for a while...for old posters and other old stuff. After that, we went to some halloween store to look for jaunty caps. Dan and Dave got some hats. Dan's cap is jaunty and looks suprisingly not-stupid on him. I think Dave's hat is silly. Don't hear me wrong, it looks good on him and it has some jaunt...but it's just too silly. It's one of those classic 'skipper' hats. It's not so much its being silly as it is its being a sort of gimmick. Like, people see it and think of it as some kind of costume hat. It's beyond its jauntability (which is now a word). Eric and I have no jaunty caps, nor does Kate, though I'm not sure she really wanted one in the first place.

Anyway, six o'clock had rolled around and the mall was closed. So, we decided to go to Target to check their halloween department. One word: lame. Anyway, I convinced (through jumping, pointing, and making weird noises) the running crew to head to the toy department. While there, I found this little cat named Coco for eight dollars. Basically, I had to break a $20 so I could pay back PenPen his three dollars. So, I now have this little cat that makes noises and walks and blinks it's eyes when it hears noises. Check it:

So, I'm here now with a little cat and no jaunty cap. I did find a silly hat...

...well, not so much a hat as a pepsi box. Anyway...look over there! *runs away*
