Here I sit, and play guitar...

Today was rather productive. Well, for my standards anyway. I woke up around 9:30 and, after fumbling around for a while, finally decided to try and play my guitar. I did manage to tune it. It is most likely completely out of tune, but at this point, I'm just happy if it makes something that resembles a note when I pick the strings. Most of the time, when I'm trying to fret a chord, my fingers end up rubbing up on the other strings and make them sound really, really awful. I think I'm just holding the neck wrong or just have to figure out the right way to curl my fingers, so I'm gonna try again tomorrow. If you play guitar and know what I'm doing wrong or can offer a few tips, let me know so I don't end up wasting my time (and hurting my hand) trying to curl my fingers in some unhuman way.

After guitar, I ate a sandwich and watched the price is right. All six contestants were winners (except for one of them, but the sound guy screwed up and they had to give her the prize...). That naturally progressed onto me working on this very site. I did a bunch of work last night and, after numerous tries, got the code tweeked just right so a user can actually log-in. Yay. Today, I got the whole log-out thing working and got the 'profile viewer' thing to partially work. I've gotta add more features (mainly, a dropbox of all the users), but it should go smoothly from this point on (hahaha...).

So, after all that (actually, I coded on-and-off throughout the day), I had to do yardwork. This involved tearing down a whole lot of vines. While doing so, I discovered two things. Firstly, there was some kind of box put up by the phone company that the vines had completely covered. I don't know how long it's been there, but it was certainly hard to (accidentally) pull out of the brick wall. I thought it was some kind of nest at first (there are tons of bugs in those vines), so I jumped back pretty far. After actually looking at, I figured out it was just a stupid phone box. I promptly went inside to check the phone lines. Still good... Secondly, I discovered that praying mantises (and quite possibly all of the mantis family) have kung-fu action grip. Allow me to explain. There was a praying mantis (like I said, a ton of bugs...) on one of the vines. Now, bugs do creep me out to an extent. Like, if I see one, I jump a little. Normally, I can just tell myself, "hey, goober, just crush the thing," and I'll get on with the job. Large bugs, however, are much more intimidating. Like, what if they jump on my face or something? I don't know if these things bite or suck or cling or something. So, being the usual wuss that I am, I grabbed a stick and proceeded to whack the mantis off of the vine. The mantis flew horizontally for a good 6 feet and then just grabbed onto another vine. That's not just grip, that's kung-fu action grip. At this point, I didn't know what to expect. It just sorta looked at me (at least, I think it was looking at me). I was gonna poke it with the stick again and it ran away with full stealth-ninja action. I didn't know where the sucker was, so I kept on working. About an hour later (i had taken a break), I was working around the area where it had hidden itself. I found it. Since hitting it with a stick invoked it's innate ninja abilities, I decided to try and lure it onto another piece of vine that I had ripped off and place it down near my cat, who was sitting nearby. The mantis was far too smart for my plan, and proceeded to run up. It eventually got out of my reach, so I just kept working. About a mintute later, it dropped down in full ninja stance (mantis stance, of course) and was going for my face. Luckily, I managed to see it just before it got me and I jumped back. I'm still not sure where it landed, but I know this thing isn't over.

I eventually stopped working on the vines and took a brief nap. My dad woke me up and we left to go get lenses for my glasses. Since I want my new lenses in my current set of glasses, I have to resort to using my old glasses (see webcam). I don't particularly like this set, but it'll have to do for a week or two.

That basically sums up my day. Things have come full circle and I'm working on the site again now (i guess that's full circle and little more, actually...). Soon I'll get tired and frustrated at php and end up passing out on my couch/bed. Ah yes...that's gonna be sweet...
